The AMETEK Prestolite Power Battery Identification Device (BID) provides the charger with the ID number of the battery. The BID also tells the charger what kind of battery it is, its Ah capacity, how many cells it has and what start rate to use. Throughout the charge, the BID provides the charger with updated battery temperature readings. With a BID in place, any BID capable controlled charger can provide the optimum temperature compensated charge profile for that particular battery.
Like the BID, the BID with Ah Accumulator is a Battery Identification Device, and provides the charger with the ID number of the battery. Also, like the standard BID, the BID with Ah Accumulator tells the charger what kind of battery it is, its Ah capacity, how many cells it has, and what start rate to use. In addition to those features, the BID with Ah Accumulator, provides lifetime Ah in and out of the battery and lifetime average temperature -- both excellent measures of battery life used and remaining. Of course, the BID with Ah Accumulator also provides the charger with real time temperature data allowing the charger to deliver the optimum temperature compensated charge profile for that particular battery.
